I enjoyed the food a cheeseburger pizza and our beer flight selections . Prices vary depending on which beer you select for flight can cost any where from $12- up We leaned more towards the fruit beers . My personal favorite that they ran out of is travelers co. Grapefruit on draft. So many options on beers . You are always taking a gamble on if you will like it or not unless you have had them all. Always busy the two times I have been there. Service was good and we got or food in a reasonable time . Would recommend to anyone in the Cedar Rapids area.

Food is usually good, but the service is usually poor. It takes far too long to get food here nearly every time. Tonight though, I ordered a stuffed burger, and got a normal cheeseburger. Really disappointing. The food just isn't worth it anymore IMO.

Been there a number of times and it's always great. Love the outdoor seating. They are adding more space. I'm going again.

They have a great shifting selection of beers and it's very relaxing place for a Saturday morning beer and breakfast with my friends. The omelettes are really well done and Shannon knows a thing or two about beer. The only downside is the location. With all of the weekend activities at the NewBo market you never know what parking will be like until you get there. It is however, worth the gamble. And you have to love bicyclists because they can swarm the place at any minute. Spandex, lots of spandex, and kilts, kilts everywhere.

This place is in a great neighborhood in CR that is really up and coming. We got a table right away despite how busy they were - this place is huge. We chose this place because they had veggie burgers on the menu but beware vegans- they have egg (maybe, our waitress didn't really know or offer to ask -- she really didn't know what vegan meant). I ordered the veggie flatbread pizza w/o cheese and it was good. We also ordered hummus and it was salty but the pita was great. One weird thing a waitress did (not ours) is she grabbed our drink menu without saying anything and gave it to her table. I thought this was rude, as did the rest of my party. This place was good enough, would maybe return.

Tons of Beer! That's awesome, but the service seems disingenuous and this place lacks anything that seems like a chain. It's local and well run.

Parlor City has some of the best food in Cedar Rapids! It's especially great after a long bike ride on the nature trail, which is just a block away. Their chicken guacamole sandwich is amazing! The beer selection is fantastic and the service is decent! The location is great, downtown CR in the newbo area.

Very solid, always good food that is more unique than what you'll find in the vast majority of restaurants in this part of Iowa. Genuinely enjoy eating here with friends. Very good atmosphere, probably one of the things that keeps me coming back. As for the beers I'm underage so I can't really comment but 56 seems pretty impressive so planning on coming back for those in a few years and hoping that will add to my enjoyment of this restaurant.

Okay Iowa, you've impressed me. Tucked away in what is the start of an "up and coming" area of Cedar Rapids, you'll find this old school-looking pub. 56 TAPS. Seriously! Tons of really interesting beers. You can do flights, but be warned, they can get up to $17. Eek. They offer a moderate happy hour and the fried green beans with honey mustard are a tasty treat.

I'm so glad we stopped in to Parlor City Pub and Eatery during our night in Cedar Rapids! It was a nice, low key place to stop by, get drinks, chat with locals. The bartender was easy to talk to and very knowledgable about all the (56!) beers on tap. I was a bit surprised that the featured brewery was Founders, which is a Michigan brewery. It's definitely cool place to check out if you're in the area.

Saturday around noonish. I'm greeted quickly as I settle at the bar and have a beer menu in hand shortly. I get the feeling my previous review has prompted a bit of an attitude shift, which is welcome. It's hard to tell since I'm a known factor now, and I've come to know some of the staff who were mortified when told of my previous experiences at the bar, so take it as you will. The couple sitting next to me found a very long hair in their juicy lucy burger. It happens but I've got to mention that. I've also posted a photo that should really tell the story of this establishment overall : not a reflection of the employees but the management. That photo shows the hole in the tile above the single urinal in the mens bathroom. I first noticed in October of 13, took a photo back in January and still in mid-april they haven't made any effort to replace a single large tile directly where male customers stare for several minutes while in silent contemplation. The bathroom feels like an afterthought (broken soap dispenser and dirty sink area) and it wouldn't cost more than $100 to replace the tile and grout but they tried to cover it - poorly - with some metal beer signs that have since been pried away from the wall. If you want a decent rating you need more than food, you need more than service - you need to present your establishment properly as well. It takes two hours and two hands to replace tile and they've ignored that for at least 6 months...what else has been neglected behind the scenes? I dont have anything personal against Parlor City, I want it to represent the best my hometown has to offer... but I cannot honestly recommend it as a top-flight establishment when it relies on one-star reviews before management notices there's a problem. Shabby bathrooms and hair in the hamburgers? No thanks. 2 1/2 stars for improved service, a long ways to go for a full three or more. For the price ($15-20 per person for food and one beer) I expect more. I was also told there were drink and food specials but didn't see any mention of either anywhere. I really want to like the place but aside from the beer selection I simply cannot recommend Parlor City.

Parlor City is such a little gem! My favorite part is their patio. It's so nice to hang out there on summer evenings! The service is almost always excellent and the ambiance is relaxed. The food is pretty good, but the real highlight is their massive selection of beer and their daily $5 pitchers. I love going to Parlor City with a group of friends, splitting a pitcher or two, and enjoying the chips and queso appetizer (it comes with a generous portion of tortilla chips, homemade queso, guacamole, tomato salsa and black bean and corn salsa--perfect for sharing and SO tasty!).

The steak did not make it to rare and the potatoes were dry and my daughter did not eat half her wrap. To be avoided.

  • T B.

It was decent. I had a pull pork sandwich it was alright. The only reason I would come back would be for the 56 different types of beer and the outdoor setting. If they had better food it would be so much more better.

Horrible service. We ordered food, afterwards had a drink. We got offered a drink 30 mins after the fact ! My friend asked for water and didn't get it after 3hrs .. She come after another 40 mins. My husband asked for food then

I had a great time here. Sampled a bunch of IPAs I've never heard of before. Service is upbeat, prices are fair, lots of people, good vibe. Will drop by again tomorrow before flight home :)

I'm a big fan of this place, other than how loud it is. It's loud because it's pretty popular (that's a good kind of loud) and they also have live music fairly often. Food is good, beer list is fantastic and having the ability to get flights of anything on tap is really, really nice. Accommodating of bicycling patrons as well. I'll go here again and again.

  • Kristin H.

By far the best offering of draft beer in CR. This happening place in New Bo offers a casual, lively environment. It is part restaurant, part live music venue, part sports bar, and part beer geek haven. We love that we can cuddly up into a booth, taste new beers, and listen to a bluegrass band all the while eating yummy fish tacos or their large portioned nacho platter. Service is consistently very good, except for a few grumpy servers who we have learned to just avoid. We loved sitting out back on the patio and have enjoyed riding our bikes there for an afternoon IPA. Why not five stars? Some of the food is just average and if you want a quiet place to talk, this place is pretty loud when music is on.

  • Tommy D.

Very trendy stop in newbo. Great selection of beers My only gripe is the beer prices aren't on the menu and can get really crowded.

    (3)
  • Kim R.

Over price bar food that's not good too much stuff on and around the place hard to get thew the place to get to the bathrooms. Omg the bathrooms.. Please go to another piece of you need to use them. Clean they are not.

An Extra Spicy (Juicy) Lucy was calling my name for lunch here. Hard to go wrong with pepper jack stuffed into a burger and oozing out like molten lava as you eat it! The burger eating became a knife and fork affair. ;-) The sweet potato fried are seasoned crinkle cuts. They were crispy and very good. Service at lunch was decent as well.

  • Staci N.

One of our fav places! Great atmosphere and beautiful patios. Our server was fantastic and friendly! I Recommend the buffalo chicken salad and the guac chicken sandwich. They also have the best sweet potato fries with marshmallow dipping sauce.

    (5)
  • Matt J.

56 beers on tap. Live music. Great casual food. The wait staff seemed a little frantic like they didn't always know who had what table, but the service was good. All in all a really good experience.

  • Emily M.

My go-to place to get a beer in Cedar Rapids. They have over 50 on tap and the options are continuously changing. There is a decent patio in the back if that's your thing. Not sure how the meals are but the nachos or cheese fries are worth getting. The attentiveness of the servers varies but I have never had a long wait to get a seat. Giving 4 stars for service (my food or my boyfriend's food has been cold on multiple occasions) and 5 for the beer selection.

    (4)
  • Matt S.

Best beer selection in the area. Bartenders are very knowledgable of what they are serving. Great selection of food - above and beyond "bar food." Service was great!

This place has gone way, way downhill. Parlor City has always been a go-to when we have family in town, but I'm not sure we'll ever go back. The service is terrible and the food isn't much better. Our drinks would sit empty for long periods of time while our server was MIA. When she did show up, she might refill half the drinks and come back to ask how our food was as she walked away from our table. It felt like we were bothering her, to be honest. Our food wasn't good - there were two orders for stuffed burgers and neither were stuffed at all. Everything was lazily lopped on top. What's the point of calling it a stuffed burger (an $11 "juicy Lucy") if it's just a plain ol' overcooked cheeseburger? All dishes were served with the saddest, smallest serving of cold, limp fries. It's like nobody here cares anymore. Clearly the kitchen didn't know or care about how to prepare the menu items correctly and our waitress didn't care that it might be wrong or that we actually needed drink service more than once. I would ponder that maybe they were short-staffed that night, but it's been just like this the past 3-4 times we've dined here. I'd much rather choose a local place over a chain restaurant, but we most likely won't be back here.

Great place to meet up with friends and family while visiting CR. This eatery located in the budding New Bo area has a significant beer selection and a great variety of food. I ordered a gluten free chicken artichoke pizza and the crust was absolutely the best I have had since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. A special thanks to Pat for getting me the name of the maker of the crust. Keep up the good selection of gluten free items on your menu.

Come here if you like a variety of beverages to tingle your tastebuds. With well over 100 beers on tap, there's sure to be something for every thirsty traveler. The food is pretty decent, too. We often go for a couple beers and some fried pickles. There are live bands that frequent as well for some dining entertainment. Thumbs up.

  • Justin W.

Excellent beer selection always. The food is very CR, with fried food and burgers as a center piece. Oh, I got a pizza to go once and it was awesome! The fried cheese sticks are hand-battered (I believe) and very indulgent. I've never have a problem getting a seat because it is a large place. It can get loud at times, most especially with the live music. To the point where you can't hear the person across from you and people are looking for tables in the back to move to. That always bothers me. There are several bars that seem to suffer from beer being not-ice-cold in the summer and this place is one...I don't know if it's going in and out of the cooler or how it happens, but Parlor isn't the only place where it happens. The staff are friendly for the most part - some are very attentive and some don't seem to be into it as much, but you'll have that. I'm getting used to bars that have kids in them, and this place definitely has that from time to time. Overall a place I like to stop, especially with my beer-nerd buddies!

It had a great atmosphere and located in the Main Street District of CR. Our food was good, and the staff was pleasant. We thought the prices weren't all the bad. We will go there again. 56 beers on tap!

Business owner got back on my review...the only one...at least she gives a s###. Hey, please go here and have a great time! I have to say that their artichoke dip is amazing.

We have visited PC a few times and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. One evening we decided to get pizza for takeout. 2 pizzas & garlic cheese sticks was around $45 (slightly overpriced but good food.) I paid bill and brought food home and we enjoyed. Later I looked at the receipt and saw a $1.50 To Go Order Surcharge? Are you kidding me? Are we really hurting so bad that we need to charge patrons for made up services? This didn't settle well and earns a big fat 1 star. At least advise of the charge to the customer before they place the order. Ridiculous.

I haven't eaten here, so this review is based just on ambience and their really great beer offerings. I came in around 9 PM on a Saturday night with my husband. We had already had dinner so we just wanted a drink and they let us sit at a table anyway, which was nice. It was pretty full but not crowded. There was a blues band playing. They also have several TVs, so you can watch the game if you aren't into the music. The decor is fun, with lots of old pictures and local memorabilia. But the best part is definitely the beer. Something like 50 or 60 different beers on tap ranging from belgian to domestic craft beer from across the US and even a few made right in Iowa. The beer menu is well put together and helpful but our waitress also offered to make a suggestion based on what I was in the mood for. If you like craft beer this place is a must visit in Cedar Rapids.

Pour service, expensive drinks, but great selection of beers and you can fill your growler. Good is middle of the road you can find better within walking distance of this place.

The Juicy Lucy was really well done - by that I mean both well-made and tasty and well done, because you're not getting that middle cheese to melt without that level of cooking. Nevertheless, well-seasoned and good beef and a good bun. The Frips, which are house-made FRied chIPS, are served with either Bacon-horseradish dip or a french onion dip. We liked the space a lot, it seemed to have been remodeled with care. There are a lot of beers available on tap, I believe 56, but it seems like half are Sam Adams. They do have Toppling Goliath on the back page, but I would like to see more smaller breweries represented. Overall, a very good place, we'll come back and try more off the menu.

  • Keith S.

Great beer selection. Good service. Good food with a little twist on some of the regulars. For instance, the mozzarella sticks were unlike any I've ever had, but good. Biggest complaint: ordered the spicy juicy lucy and it was neither spicy or lucy. Or is it juicy? Either way, it wasn't spicy and didn't have much in it for stuffing. It was still actually a very good tasting cheeseburger, but severely lacking in what I ordered. The coleslaw I ordered as a side wasn't exactly inspiring either, but coleslaw tends to polarize people in the multiple ways of preparation. Wouldn't hesitate to explore the menu further.

Come here if you want the best selection of craft beers in Cedar Rapids. In fact it *may* have the best selection of craft beers in all of Iowa as of 2014. I know it has better selection than El Bait Shop in Des Moines, and anywhere I've been in Quad Cities. The food is good, the service can kinda suck, the atmosphere is nice, with the exception of the acoustics when they have bands play. But I don't notice those minor negatives because I'm a beer geek and I'm busy reading the beer menu deciding what to get next.

    (4)

Beer selection is 8/10. The food is garbage! They serve canned chicken in their wraps. Skip the food and drink.

This has become a tradition for my wife and I. On vacation we always stop here. Let the waitperson pick a beer flight for us. Always get for beers we never tasted before. They always surprise us with something. Tonight it was Left Handed Milk Stout. Almost drinks like milk and you want several of them. Tonight we tried their pizza. Not bad at all. We will stop here again.

If you want a bajillion beers then this might be the place to go. However if you want lunch, especially a quick lunch, this is NOT the place to go. I was in Friday about 1pm. There were other customers but the place was not full. There appeared to be 4 servers, so not counting those sitting at the bar, each server would have had about 3 tables, maybe 4. I must have gotten the slowest server in the place. My soda arrived and it took about another ten minutes for the Sutliffe Cider that my wife ordered. I assumed they pressed and fermented the apples in the back room. The food took about 25 minutes to arrive, which for lunch is atrocious. It took about 15 minutes just to get a soda refill and when it came time to pay the check, I waited close to ten minutes for the server to get done holding a personal conversation with the people at the table behind me. I have eaten here three times now. The service has been crap every time. It is a pity that I don't drink because now the place hold no great reason for me to go back. Over all the food wasn't bad. Both the wife and I had fish and chips. Amusing enough, the fries were baked, which I liked, but not what the wife likes. She likes her fries a bit crispy and the baked fries tend to be softer and a little mushier.

This is my favorite local restaurant. Reasons: huge variety of great beer, gorgeous outdoor seating, awesome food, great service. I could come here all the time.

Great location, good food nice selection of food. Grilled chicken sandwich was amazing huge amount of fries, also cheeseburger was good. Will be going back. The location was huge, I was a little worried that there would be a wait for going at 1pm on a Saturday but bc if the space we got a sat quickly. No wait time.

I love the food and atmosphere! Except when they have live music then it gets too hard to hear anyone speak.

I love this place! It used to be our "go to" for lunch, their salads are amazing!! During my visit however, I noticed that the changed the way they prepare the breaded chicken for my favorite salad-PLEASE change it back!

Every time I go here it is always busy but service is always excellent! There is a great atmosphere if you are sitting inside or outside. They have live music usually on Sundays. Food is great I would recommend any of the burgers or wraps they are all amazing! Very affordable also!

This is my go-to restaurant in Cedar Rapids. Great beer selection, reasonable prices, great atmosphere. The Juicy Lucy needs some work though. We're from the Twin Cities, and their version of the Juicy Lucy needs more cheese! I hope the owners read this, because I'd love to have a great JL in CR. Other than that, their make your own bloody mary's seems fun (I don't like bloody mary's), and their breakfast buffet is ok.

Was in last night with a group a friends. We ordered left hand beer and got free glassware because the beer rep was there my buddy even got a free shirt. Pretty cool not to many bars do events where you actually get swag. The place was packed we had great service our drinks were never empty and our food came out hot and fast. Are sever was very gorgeous too. :) will most definitely be back for the great service and left hand beers!

5/5 - buffalo chicken wrap 5/5 - normal krinkle cut fries (nothing special but well made) 2/5 - steak sandwich (overcooked, grisley, served awkwardly on undersized roll) 3/5 - frips, (horseradish dipping sauce was tasty) 2/5 - slow service at beginning that improved but lacked overall enthusiasm) 2/5 - snifter of beer ($8) steak sandwich with sauce ($9.75) wrap ($7.25). Wrap was a good value w/ others slightly overpriced. Visit was 4:45 on a Friday.

I live in the New Bo area. I have never had great service here but I enjoy their beer selection and it's close. This weekend however put me off Parlor City. First they were closed at 12:30 on a Saturday night. For a place that is suppose to have the best beer selection in Cedar Rapids you would think that they would want to stay open till bar close. Then Sunday morning we wanted to get breakfast, again we wanted to go within walking distance. It was Mother's day so they were busy and they had the buffet set up. They however didn't have a hostess to seat people or even greet people, but they had a please wait to be seated sign which they never have that. Then the buffet was completely out of food at one point. I understand it was busy BUT if you are going to have a buffet you need to keep it well stocked. They also were constantly running out of plates for the buffet. The entire experience was just not good.

I have been here a few times and only eaten here once. I love the atmosphere of this bar so if you are looking to sit down and have a few drinks with your friends this place is a 5. Sometimes they have live music which is awesome. Some of the bartenders have heavy hands, which some people might like, but their mixed drinks, to me, tend to almost be too strong. Being a lover of food I give them a 3.5. They hand batter their food (or at least the onion rings and mozz sticks) which I LOVE, but I thought their batter tasted like donut batter, which I don't love. It was too thick I thought. The pulled pork is.. Ok, nothing special. The service is usually pretty good though.

  • Josh P.

Randomly stopped in for "a drink" on a sunday afternoon. The bartender was awesome! He was so friendly, and helped us pick the best flavors for our tastes. We ended up getting some sweet potato fries as we hung out. They have almost as many dipping sauces as we beer on tap. Food was great, i really want to try more of what they have. Great TVs, really cool look to the place. It was busy on a sunday evening, and everyone looked to be having a good time. Must go back again!

  • Donald Y.

This place is awesome, hands down! Coming from the Des Moines area where we have El Bait Shop, a bar that has 100 different microbrews on tap, this is probably the closest I have seen any other bar get to that benchmark. They currently have 56 beers on tap, and even though it's still in Iowa, they had a number of beers I had not seen before. We got there around 8:00 pm on a Friday night and luckily for us the guy we were meeting had saved us some seats at the bar. This place was packed! Unfortunately we had eaten earlier so we didn't have a chance to try out any of the food but we did take a look at the menu and there were quite a few things that caught our eye. This will definitely be on our list the next time we are back in eastern Iowa. Anybody that is a beer snob in the Cedar Rapids area needs to check this place out!

  • Lynn J.

I said I wouldn't go back after the last experience with slow service and crappy food, but I got suckered in for lunch with some girls from work. I ordered the fish tacos and they were just so so, paid more for the sweet potato fries and they burned them. A co-worker ordered a tenderloin and it was burned to a crisp and her fries were also inedible. They knocked a whopping $2.50 off my bill and I went back to work hungry.

  • Austin S.

better bar than restaurant. On average you will wait for your food up wards of an hour, not because its being prepared but because it is sitting in the back waiting to be brought out. strange atmosphere.

  • Travis C.

In town for a conference and stopped here with a group of eight on a Wednesday evening. Tried the mozz sticks, garlic cheese bread, and spin dip as appetizers...all very good. Killer Reuben Pizza and decent Bacon Cheeseburger pizza as well. It was 2 for 1 beer night so that made it even better. I'll be back!

  • Jake P.

So to be fair I don't hate this place as much as the review might imply but good lord...my experience there tonight was the WORST! It's Saturday night and my wife and I roll up about 6:15. We notice through the window there are some empty tables so we should get seated right away. We walk in and immediately sense this will not go well. There are about 3 couples just standing there waiting for a host to seat them. As waitresses pass by repeatedly without acknowledging our existence I finally flag someone down and find out there is a waiting list. No big deal, I see empty tables and there are only 2 names ahead of mine. I grab a couple beers and wait. But as people leave nobody is getting seated. Then I notice "table reserved" signs being placed on the tables as they are cleaned off. I guess this wouldn't be that big of a deal but a lot of people seem to be hanging out after they finish eating because there is a band later in the night. I ask the redhead waitress who is making the list how long I should expect to wait since every open table is now "reserved". "Just be patient, any minute now". At this point we have been waiting about 40 minutes and notice the list getting longer and longer, but nobody is getting seated. And the reserved tables are still empty. And the staff is completely oblivious (granted, they were understaffed). At this point another table empties and a "reserved" sign is placed on it. OK, time to seriously complain to somebody. We flag down the redhead and here is what she says, "Well they sat at a reserved table but agreed to finish up before 7:30, when the party has it reserved for". Remember, we came in around 6:15, and couldn't be seated because the tables were reserved - FOR 7:30!!! Good business model idiots. You could have seated and fed about 6 tables before your private party came. Instead you decided to make a list for people to stand around and wait (who thought they were about to be seated) and get pissed as they stare at empty tables and are told " just be patient, honey, just a few minutes". We finally explained what was going on to another waitress but it was too late. She apologized profusely but the damage had been done. It was almost 7:30 and my wife was livid. All the others who were waiting were either pissed or leaving. So we waited over an hour as we stared at empty tables. And if ANYONE would have said "go ahead and take that table, just know that we have it reserved at 7:30" we would have been fine with that. Instead we left hungry and pissed, my wife vowing to never step foot in there again. So if the owner/manager is reading this: 1) properly staff your place -especially Saturday night during the NFL playoffs and a band scheduled to play, and 2) if you are going to take reservations at 7:30, don't set the "reserved" signs at 6:00.

This place was recommended to us for a good place to go for dinner during our recent visit to Cedar Rapids.. I would not recommend!!!! The food was room temp when we got it an hour later, atmosphere was loud so opted to sit sat outside and was surrounded by flies during our dinner and the service non attentive and not friendly.

    (1)
  • Ryan J.

Possibly my most favorite pub in town. Their burgers are amazing, beer is always cold, and the waitresses are super friendly. I have never had a problem here, even when they are busy or dead. If anybody asks me for a great pub to go in Cedar Rapids, I always tell them to go here. I love this place.

I came for lunch on a Sunday. The service started out horrible, the waitress was stressed, unenthusiastic, and unpleasant. She then told a different waitress just starting her shift to handle my table. The second waitress was much better than the first. The food took forty minutes to reach our table. And it was okay, nothing special. I heard the Juicy Lucy was good from one of the people at my table, and the "frips" are just glorified chips and dip.

Went here on a Wednesday night around 6:00pm. Glad I did because it filled up fast after that. Sat at the bar. They have a fairly large selection of draft beer, and I must say probably one of the most unique and varied selections of draft beer I've seen. If you are a beer geek in CR, this is a must check out spot. The bartenders were super prompt and polite, always ready to let you taste a beer,,,, even bringing me a taste of something they thought I might like. I had the Spicy Lucy Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. Food is standard pub grub, not a gastropub, but have not had anything bad either. You go here mostly for the beer. Will definitely stop back next time in town. Service was great! Beer was great! Food was great!

I've heard some things about slow service here, and I've only been one time, but so far, I disagree! I went to Parlor City with a co-worker directly after work for a beer-turned-dinner, and though it was packed inside by 5:30pm, our service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a Blue Moon, the Jalapeno Burger (with the jalapeno cream sauce on the side) and sweet potato fries. First of all, YUM on all three counts. The burger was better than I'd expected, and the sweet potato fries were crinkle-cut. I'm a sucker for crinkle-cut fries in general, but I think this adds a crispiness to sweet potato fries that is otherwise hard to attain. I dipped my fries in the jalapeno cream sauce, but next time I'll definitely have it on the burger, as served.

Hands down my favorite bar in Cedar Rapids. Food, service, atmosphere are all 5 stars. They set the standard for me. We recently went for breakfast and bloody mary bar - yummo! They have 3-4 different bloody mixes, all the toppings/condiments, sauces etc. Needless to say, it was a very tasty morning. Our group of three ordered a breakfast pizza and a southwest omelet. The breakfast pizza, unanimously, was voted as "the best ever". The omelet was pretty damn tasty as well. When a bar ups your usual breakfast spot....well, I guess you can call it a one stop shop. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all awesome at Parlor City. And they definitely take the cake on beers on tap - this is a micro brew beer lovers haven. The one and only issue I have with this place is when they have live music, we never go. Cause when we do, we have to speak in sign language or read each others lips. In short, it's effing LOUD in there.

They used to have the best happy hour in town (3 - 7 & $2.50 mugs) but now it ends an hour sooner and costs a quarter more. Still great deals, especially with the new double decker tap & New Belgium offerings. As far as the food goes, I'm partial to the cheese stix and buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. They cost a little extra but if you get them with marshmallow sauce it's well worth it. The acoustics are terrible since it is just a big open space but they get surprisingly good bands like The Magnetos, the one man band guy and a blue grass group from Arkansas. It's probably my favorite downtown hang.

They have juicy lucys here! enough said! 5 stars! If you don't know what a juicy lucy is or have never had one in your life then you need to stop everything your doing and go got one now! A juicy lucy is a hamburger that has cheese, and other ingredients in the middle of the burger, I'm pretty sure if you've never had a foodgasm before (food orgasm) then this is the place that will get you off!

So far have been here twice, once for weekend breakfast and once for weekend lunch. We went pretty early for breakfast, so it wasn't crowded. The staff was very attentive and it was one of the better breakfasts we've had since moving here. I was mostly excited about the bloody mary bar. Phenomenal. And really, really good bloody mary mix. Recently, we stopped by for lunch. Lunch was busier and the crowd is rowdier, most likely due to the bloody mary bar. I can't remember what hubby had because he ate it so fast, but it must have been tasty. I had the fish sandwich with a ginormous piece of fish. It was messy but really good. We also had fried pickles as a starter and they were some of the best fried pickles and we got our choice of dipping sauce, which makes me very happy. Even though it was busy, our iced teas were kept full. This has become one of our go-to places on the weekend when we are driving around aimlessly.

My wife and I, along with two of our friends ate here while visiting the area. Despite being in the middle of a street festival with heavy crowds, both the service and the food were excellent. The beer selection was robust and food was prepared exactly as expected. We ate in several other restaurants in the area and hands down this was better than all of them (especially Capone's, located across the street). The only downside to the menu was that if you are looking for a meal fancier than a burger or sandwich, you are out of luck. But, the portions of sandwiches and sides more than make up for it. We will certainly eat here again when in the area.

Went for lunch w/ a friend the other day (not our 1st time there) around 1:15 in the afternoon. There were about 8 tables of customers seated when we arrived, so we were able to sit right away. Wait staff took our order & got our drinks promptly...and it went down hill from there. 45 minutes later we got our food (by that time there were 4 other tables of guests in the place), clearly they have issues with timely turnovers from the kitchen & wait staff....needless to say the "Juicy lucy" was NOT juicy & all the cheese had oozed out during cooking, and it wasn't even hot. The soda was FLAT, and was hard to get a refill. We also had to eat our lunch w/ our coats on because it was so cold in there (was like that previous visit too). Overall- pretty good food, but the service is very lacking!

A real gem in the heart of the trendy Newbo area. Huge selection of quality craft beers, impressive bar, great food and has a very neighborhood bar vibe. Perfect place in the trendy up and coming Newbo.

This is probably the place with the worst service in the whole state. The staff just doesn't care in the restaurant area. Some things are not bad like the Juicy Lucy sandwiches but overall the food is mediocre. The service has been bad for years so its not like its going to get any better. The bar staff is average but it doesn't make up for it and avoid this place at all costs.

Awesome place. Ate there on a Thursday night, it was crowded but there were available tables. Good pub food - fries, onion rings, EXCELLENT burgers. I had the Spicy Lucy - a pepperjack-cheese-filled delight - and onion rings with the EXCELLENT Chipotle Ranch dipping sauce. If you like beer, they have TONS on draft, mostly craft beers and microbrews. Great experience!

I'm surprised none of the reviews mention the SUPREME NACHOS. Oh dear, I ordered a HALF order for my boyfriend and I (For $6.25)...thinking it was a little 'add-on' to our burger and tenderloin meals. Well the nachos are a meal themselves and they are delicious. Our server was nice and catered to us well. My tenderloin was great. I gave 4 stars because the burger was a same-ol' and every place in town makes a bacon cheeseburger the same. I also thought the atmosphere felt more like a bar than an eatery. The prices are fabulous compared to other places and especially since I took home 2 pounds of food that we couldn't finish - which doesn't happen very often. I shall return again someday...this time the nachos will be alone as a meal.

Food is very good and has large portions. A little difficult to get in and out within an hour for lunch, although it is possible. Offers a large beer selection, and beer flights. When there is music it can be very loud and you should not go there expecting to be able to talk. There is a pool table, although sometimes it is covered for additional seating/eating. Wait staff is not always the most attentive and can sometimes take a long time to either initially get service or to get waited on after you have your food. Very interesting decor throughout the place, including old signs and advertisements. Very close to other restaurants and bars in the New Bo area. A great area to visit on weekends.

Your typical pub. Nice atmosphere, good service and decent food. I would recommend the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich; although it looks like the chicken is on Roids. It's HUGE!

Insanely good and gigantic buffalo chicken sandwich: best I've ever had. I really like how they tried to maintain some of the local history of the neighborhood. The old "Service Press & Litho Co." sign hangs in the main room and I think that is special.

The sweet potatoe fries are a must to try, otherwise food is pretty typical pub fare.

Went there with a medium-sized group of 9 people (including young kids) to watch the Hawkeye game. The server was great - very patient with our delays, multiple refills and varied food order. The food order was correct as were the bills. The food itself was typical bar food - I had a Spicy Lucy and was pleased with both the cheese and moisture. The rest of my party was pleased with their food as well. I was the only one sampling the multitude of draft beers and was very happy with the number of selections and the variety. The atmosphere was good also. I was a little worried that it was going to be too much "Pub" for kids and not enough "Eatery" so I was pleasantly surprised to find MANY families there with children during the day. I was also pretty happy that there is No Smoking in the bars in Iowa either. My only negative (and a slight one at that) is that on cold days such as today, they need an air lock on the front door to keep the cold out. It's nothing that detracted from my experience but I'm sure it is worse for those sitting at the bar! Overall - good job restoring the old bank. This is a neat little Pub & Eatery.

while i applaud these guys coming back after the flood to establish a joint in new bo, the food was mediocre at best. spicy lucy or her cousin or whatever was what i had....the menu warned of something really hot at first bite. well, not only was there no heat to it, there wasn't much flavor either. the service is quiker than the chrome horse across the street, and the atmosphere is good. i guess that's why there are condiments on the table.
